Hi, I'm Suzanne

A Little About Me...

I am hardly a reluctant technology user — I love it (warts and all)! It truly amazes me that we have come so far in classroom tools.  I enthusiastically (and sometimes cautiously) approach educational technology and wonder at all the innovations that have happened in just the last 10 years.

In school, I thought I wanted to be a lawyer, but took a hard left turn into a field that seemed to be bursting at the seams with futuristic inventions–I admit the nerd in me was smitten! Though DOS was still the operating system, amber was the new color monitor, and keystrokes ruled (no mouse, thank you)–it was exciting.  Ultimately, it was sharing that excitement that drove me down the path to education.

For the last 20+ years, I have been teaching technology in a K-8 school. I love my job!  I also love to share everything I learn with my students and my colleagues (or anyone who will listen for that matter).  Another part of my job is troubleshooting hardware/software problems, offering Professional Development in Technology Integration, and generally acting as the Technologist on Campus.

I have worked with both Microsoft Office (where I started) and Google Apps for Education.  I generally try a multitude of apps and products first and in my classroom before recommending anything to my colleagues. You can check out my blog for the adventures of what worked and what didn’t.  I am passionate about hands-on learning for my students, try and fail and learn from it.  We learn about technology, digital citizenship, coding/robotics, digital escape rooms, and PBL that uses critical thinking & engineering facets.  The learning is always new and fun!

I want you to feel like tackling technology in your classroom–whether as the “special” computer teacher or the classroom teacher looking to add a digital element to your lessons–is something you can do!

So I hope this blog will allow me to share my passion on a broader scale– as well as meet others who also feel the way I do.
